DESCRIPTION:
Joseph Ives, New York, 8 day, time and strike, weight iron and brass movement mirror clock.
CONDITION:
Mahogany case in an old finish in nice condition. Original painted tablet has been restored. Original painted dial has aged a little with some loss at the mounting pins. Original hands. There is some question as to whether this correct movement is original to this case. This a short pendulum case that is now fitted with a long pendulum version. The bottom board has been replaced and a cutout was added to provide clearance for the pendulum. The movement also has an extension added to allow the pendulum to be hung higher in the case. Someone has also added maintaining power on the time side. There is also a gong rather than a bell.
